Buds & Blossoms is happy to provide
you with a care guide for

Fresh Cut Flowers:
- Remove flowers from packaging immediately to prevent them from sweating
- Fill a vase with lukewarm water and mix packet of floral preservative into water and stir (follow directions on packet)
- Re cut stems on an angle with a sharp straight edge knife and place in water immediately… (some flowers such as roses seal off after 10 seconds if not placed in water immediately therefore cutting off their water supply)
- It is important to cut the flowers between the “knuckles” or thorns not directly at them
- Do not cut flowers with a scissor as it pinches the stem and creates a pocket cutting off water supply
- Place flowers in a cool location, away from drafts, direct sunlight and electrical appliances such as televisions and refrigerator
Flower Arrangements:
- Flowers that come already arranged in foam should have lukewarm water added immediately and daily to keep the foam wet
- Place in a cool location away from drafts, direct sunlight and electrical appliances such as televisions and refrigerators
Flower Vases:
- Flowers that come arranged in a vase should have lukewarm water added daily if needed to keep the vase full
- If water becomes cloudy, replace it completely with new water and floral preservative… making sure you re-ut all the flower stems before placing them back into the vase
- Place in a cool location away from drafts, direct sunlight and electrical appliances such as televisions and refrigerators
Why use floral preservative?
Floral preservative is a food, hydration and antibacterial agent that helps nourish flowers as well as discourage bacteria from growing…Adding floral preservative to your bouquets, re-cutting the stems, and adding or changing the water is the easiest ways to extend the life of your flowers.
